About Wio Capital

Built by people who ran advisory practices.

We were not looking for a market opportunity. We were solving a problem we had lived inside: the hours an independent advisor spends on process that does not serve the client in the room.

Our story

The problem was not obvious until you were inside it.

A financial advisory office desk with portfolio documents and a monitor showing performance charts

"I was spending twelve to fifteen hours a week on work that had nothing to do with what I told clients I did for them."

Before Wio Capital, Gonzalo spent more than a decade advising clients at a large wealth-management firm in Madrid. The firm ran an operations team that most advisors never think about: a group handling portfolio monitoring, rebalancing calculations, client reporting, and compliance documentation. It was invisible infrastructure, and it worked.

When Gonzalo left the firm and began advising independently, the infrastructure disappeared. The same client workload, the same reporting obligations, the same drift monitoring, but now entirely on him. He tracked the time: twelve to fifteen hours a week on operational work that produced nothing visible for the client in the room. No equivalent tooling existed for independent advisors at anything close to reasonable cost.

In 2024, Gonzalo founded Wio Capital to close that gap. The starting question was straightforward: what would a solo practice look like if the entire back office ran itself?

The team

People who understand the practice.

Everyone who built Wio Capital came from either advisory operations, wealth-technology, or financial-software engineering. Nobody here is guessing at the problem.

How we work

Three things we believe about building advisor tools.

The advisor decides. Always.

Wio Capital surfaces information and suggestions. It does not execute anything without advisor approval. Clients trust advisors. Advisors trust their own judgment. We exist to support that judgment, not replace it.

Reliability over features.

An independent advisor cannot have a reporting tool that is wrong once a quarter or a rebalancing queue that misses an account. We ship slowly by choice. Features only go into the product when they are accurate enough to trust with client data.

Built for the solo practice, not the enterprise.

Wio Capital is not designed to scale down from an enterprise system. It is designed for how a solo or small-team practice actually runs: one advisor, limited time, real responsibility to real clients. We do not add complexity to justify a higher price tier.
